临珠江而立的海幢寺是清代广州四大名刹之一,在广州“一口通商”时期,与花地成为当时唯二可供西方商人“游散”的园林胜地。海幢寺“僧诗西洋画具名”,留下了许多文字和图像资料。以海幢八景为切入点,海幢寺外销画和诗词《海幢八景》为主要研究素材,运用图文互证的研究 方法,从地理空间、感官体验、园林意境等角度解构清末广州寺庙园林景观营造路径。研究发现,海幢寺通过呈现寺 - 江 - 城紧密的空间联系,营造寺庙园林景观的时空整体感知,以及渲染世俗与禅意共融的氛围,向西方人呈现出一种乘舟入园、潮音相伴、江景辽阔、时空一体,世俗与禅 意共融的“中国寺庙园林”形象。

Hoi Tong Monastery, which stands near the Pearl River, was one of the four famous temples in Guangzhou during the Qing Dynasty. During the period when Guangzhou was open for business, it became the only two garden resorts for Western merchants to 'rest and play' with the flowery land. 'Monk、poetry and Western painting with famous' at Hoi Tong Monastery, left a lot of text and image data. Beginning with the Eight Views of the Hoi Tong Monastery, this study uses graphic and textual corroboration to deconstruct the construction approach of the Hoi Tong Monastery landscape through geospatial, sensory experience, garden mood, and other perspectives by taking the export paintings of Hoi Tong Monastery and the poem on The Eight Views of Hoi Tong Monastery as the main research material. It is found that the Hoi Tong Monastery, by presenting the close connection of temple-river-city space, creating a holistic perception of time and space in the temple garden landscape, and rendering the atmosphere of secular and Zen integration, presents to the Westerners the image of a 'Chinese temple garden' with a boat ride into the garden, the sound of tidal wave, a vast river view, a fusion of time and space, and a blend of secularism and Zen.
