It once had many gardens with regional characteristics, among which the gardens belonging to the Ryukyu royal family are outstanding typical representatives. According to the history of Ryukyu, the development of royal gardens can be divided into three stages: the origin period, the turning period, and the mature period.Combining the location and function of each garden, royal gardens can be classified into three types: the palace garden, the inner garden and the outer garden. The Ryukyu royal family garden types are clear.The garden imitates China in layout, while highlighting its diplomatic function. The research on the Ryukyu royal garden would help to enrich the content of East Asian garden history.
